Mark Hurd - HP CEO Mark Hurd resigns over sexual harassment Allegations

HP CEO Mark Hurd resigned today amidst scandal. Mark Hurd of HP left his job after it was revealed he had a relationship with a woman who worked with the company on marketing issues. According to the AP, HP "said he falsified expense reports and other financial documents to conceal the relationship and help get the contractor paid for work she didn't do." Hurd, who cut pay for employees last year, earned a staggering $30.3 million dollars in 2009.

In resigning Hurd ensured himself a hefty payday. According to a proxy filing for 2009, had Hurd been fired for cause he would've been entitled to $27.2 million, if let go without cause the number goes up to $52.9 million. CNBC sources say his payday for leaving the company voluntarily will be between $40 and $50 million.

CEO Mark Hurd has just resigned over a sexual harassment investigation. Hurd and HP's board of directors decided that he should resign following a sexual harassment claim against Hurd and HP by a former marketing contractor, HP claims that although there was no violation of its sexual harassment policy, Hurd violated the company's standards of business conduct by submitting inaccurate expense reports that covered his relationship with the contractor. CFO Cathie Lesjak is taking over on an interim basis, and she's actually upping the company's forecasts for next quarter, saying Mark's resignation has nothing to do with HP's performance and everything to do with his behavior. A committee led by former Netscape CEO Marc Andreessen has been formed to find a new CEO; Lesjak has asked to be excluded, and HP declined to answer if Jon Rubinstein was being considered when we asked.

KCR doughter Kavitha blackmailing Pavan Kalyan for Rs 10 cr

Telangana Jagruthi leader and Telangana Rasthra Samithi president K Chandrasekhara Rao’s daughter Kalwakuntla Kavitha is back with her blackmailing Andhra film stars to make a quick buck.

This was the allegation made by veteran Congress leader and Congress Working Committee member G Venkatswamy. He said Kavitha was blackmailing the Telugu film industry by threatening to stop their films from releasing in the name of ongoing movement for separate Telangana state. “It has come to my notice that Kavitha has demanded Rs 10 crore from Pawan Kalyan, if the latter does not want any obstructions for the release of his film ‘Komuram Puli’ in Telangana districts soon,” he said.

On the other hand, Home Minister B Sabitha Indra Reddy criticized the TRS president for personally attacking her by describing her as ‘sanyasi.’

She said KCR did not have any respect towards women. She sought to know how KCR, who did not have the culture of respecting women, would bring Telangana state. “He has no moral right to seek votes from the people of the Telangana. He has been playing political drama for the last 10 years in the name of Telangana,” she said.

AP Congress Chief Mr.D.Srinivas Risinging

HYDERABAD: Pressure is mounting on Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president D. Srinivas to quit his post, following the humiliating defeat of the party in the byelections to 12 Assembly constituencies in Telangana region.

On Sunday, party MP from Guntur Rayapati Sambasiva Rao fired the first salvo stating that the high command was analysing the outcome of the recent byelections and “the Central leadership will take a decision on the APCC president in a day or two.” Former Minister J.C. Diwakar Reddy, however, felt that there was no need for Mr. Srinivas to resign as his term would anyway end shortly. A new APCC chief would be elected taking all issues into consideration, he told reporters in Anantapur district.

Different tune

In contrast, Telangana leaders rallied behind him. Minister for Information and Public Relations J. Geetha Reddy, who met the APCC chief at his residence, termed the demand as uncalled for. “If Mr. Srinivas alone had lost the bypolls, the demand could have been justified. The sentiment was so strong, none could have faced the situation,” she reasoned.

It is understood that Mr. Srinivas is likely to visit New Delhi in a day or two to meet the Central leadership. Sources, however maintained that the APCC chief was yet to make up his mind whether to quit.

Meanwhile, the Telangana Congress leaders plan to apprise the AICC leadership of the mood in the region and take up the issue of statehood. At a meeting at the residence of Congress Working Committee member K. Keshava Rao and attended by Peddapalli MP G. Vivekananda, MLA Baswaraj Saraiah and former Minister T. Jeevan Reddy it was decided that a delegation MLAs and MPs should meet AICC president Sonia Gandhi in the next few days and discuss the outcome of the bypolls.

Mr. Keshava Rao said: “People have expressed their desire for creation of Telangana in no uncertain terms. Going by the verdict, we will approach the Central leadership and impress upon them the need to concede Telangana.”

MPs meet DS In a related development, MPs – Ponnam Prabhakar, S.Rajaiah and Suresh Shetkar – met the APCC chief in the wake of the latter's defeat in Nizamabad Urban constituency.

They remarked that despite working hard for the party candidates, the sentiment literally swept them away. A meeting of the Ministers hailing from the region, legislators and defeated party candidates has been convened on Monday at Gandhi Bhavan to review the results.
